CD and CD Cover Printing

Nicola was wondering how to print accurately onto cd covers she bought. Heres a few things to consider.

Normally how its done is you buy a printing package which has labels/covers and software containing templates or settings to enable printing onto the associated media. Sometimes these packages come with an applicator also, eg CD Stomper.

If you’ve none of this and just happen accross some covers and need to print to them then you will need to create a design in some software package that matches the size of the cover then on printing make sure your settings are correct to align the design with the cover. Some covers will be way to thick to go through your printer though.

Alternatively, you could just print your design to an A4 page and cut it out after printing with a guillotine. There are many free templates available online that can print to A4 for cutting along with free software to print them out.

Lightscribe CD/DVD drives can print directly onto cd faces with laser and they are pretty inexpensive to buy.
