Cmos Checksum Error – Defaults Loaded

Sunil, is getting the above error message when he tries to boot up his PC which has an MSI 865 GVM2-LS motherboard. The system then doesn’t respond and he can’t enter BIOS setup. Possible solutions below:

  1. Try a different CMOS battery, even new ones can be dead. Also make sure it is fitted correctly.
  2. Make sure the jumpers are set correctly for your motherboard.
  3. Make sue there is no short circuit between the motherboard and your computer’s case.
  4. Try to update the BIOS if you can.
  5. Make sure all power connections are properly seated.
  6. Disconnect or remove non-essential hardware.
  7. Try installing different RAM modules if you can.
