Vista Won’t Shut Down Properly

Author: | Posted in the "General Computing" Category

Keshav’s Vista based PC won’t power down correctly sometimes and when he next reboots the logon hangs and he gets a “read error”.

You might want to do a hard disk error check as this can get corrupted if you don’t power off a PC properly. Go to Start- Computer – Right-Click – Properties – Tools – Check Now. Tick both options then Start.

You might also try rolling back to a previous Driver version if you’ve recently updated a device’s drivers or undoing any other recent changes. Conversly, updating some drivers may also help!

Also try upgrading the BIOS.

    Sir
First of all thank you for your reply. I want to tell you that i have already tried this solution and when i use this “Check Now” option for C drive(having Windows Vista installed), and on restarting computer wthen this error checking takes place, there are always some changes take place like “Recovering orphaned files”, “Deleting index entry”, “Creating mirror copy of the file”, “Moving file to another location”. I have also tried updating BIOS. If you have some other solution please help me.
