I’ve been using excellent software for remotely controlling my own computer when I’m out or others for support. Its called ‘LogMeIn and theres free and paid for versions depending on your needs.
You can get LogMeIn at www.logmein.com and once you click the FREE download link and enter a few personal details you get to download the installer. If you run this installer on each PC you want to control then login to your account at logmein.com you can see the list of computers you’ve installed the software on and click on any one of them to be presented with a screen showing the desktop of the computer you are controlling!
You can do pretty much anything via the remote control window that you’d do if you were sitting at the remotely controlled pc including:
- Open remote files
- Search for documents
- Check your email
- Turn your PC off (but not on again!)
- Run programs
- Access files you forgot to bring to the office and send them to yourself!
