Raman hears a screaming girl when trying to play songs on windows XP. Presuming you are not trying to listen to Yoko Ono Raman, I’d say try updating your sound card drivers via the manufacturers website. If all songs are like this it’s probably the sound card or its drivers. If only a few songs then it’s probably corrupt song files.

Laptop WiFi Problems

My brother in law Tony got Eircom broadband in recently but it wouldn’t let him go online on the laptop wirelessly. Eircom support couldn’t help but after a bit of messing around I found that there were 2 different software programs trying to configure his wireless access and clashing with each other, the default windows one and the on board Dell one. What I done was went into the settings of the Dell program and unticked, “Let this program manage my wireless connection” (or something to that effect). Then I made sure the Windows Wireless software service was started properly and set to start automatically. You can do this in Start – Administrative Tools – Services.

John can’t get automatic updates and other programs to install on Vista. A quick solution might be to get the latest version of the windows installer component/program from the Microsoft website if available. Failing that a repair installation of vista might be necessary.

Patrick rebuilt his pc and all went fine except that there is no sound and he’s getting the message “Audio Hardware cannot be found”. The obvious solution is to check you have the correct, updated drivers for your on board sound card. Check the motherboard manufacturer’s website for drivers. A new PCI card could also solve the problem and this will most likely come with drivers too.

Alan’s version of Microsoft Word crashes after about 2 minutes of use each time. The following error displays: “Runtime Error Programme C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office10/Winword.exe Abnormal Program Termination”. The problem might be related to a Word add-in. This article may provide a solution – http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q322201 Also, a re-install of Word or an up to date virus scan might help.
