Defragmenting Problems

Author: PC Dude | Posted in the "PC Software" Category

Hugh’s PC with a 480GB hard drive was talking upwards of 36 hours to defragment. Defragmenting is never a quick process and I would normally leave it running overnight on my 500GB drive here and it would be done int he morning so I’d say there’s a problem there. You might just try to do some error checking on the drive before defragging again. Go to My Computer – C Drive (Right-click) – Properties – Tools – Check Now. Tick both boxes and Start. I’d say any partial defragmentation should be saved alright but it might help to get a proper dedicated software for this specific purpose. You should only need to defragment once or twice a year unless you are a heavy pc user.
